Every 9/11 I reflect on that horrible Tuesday 16 years ago that forever changed our city and our lives. We lost our trust, safety and thousands of innocent people. I wanted to take today's picture with the Freedom Tower because it makes me feel happy and proud of our city whenever I see it. I wanted to wear something to help brighten up such a sad day...
Read MoreEven though my jeans don't live in my closet, obviously they are still part of my wardrobe...and they're some of the clothes I'm dreading most to try to wear all of. Because, yes—I have a lot. I'd call it a "denim collection."
Read MoreSeriously, I think I've made it abundantly clear: SUMMER IS NOT OVER. Unfortunately, the weather is only half listening to me (and mostly giving me the finger). This is that "transitional time," which means: You're always wearing too much or too little. I walked out today with a leather jacket on...
Read MoreIt's still warm here, but sometimes chilly...and sometimes wet. Obviously a jeans day. I threw on these nice n' stretchy high-rise JBrand Flares and, in effort to elevate the good ol' jeans and basic white tee look, I paired it with this cute ruffly H&M cotton top.
Read MoreThis See by Chloé floaty lil' number came into my life via a clothing swap some friends and I had many years ago. It wasn't something I'd have picked out for myself but I've worn her too many times to count ever since!
Read MoreGreetings from our Brooklyn staycation! Our weekend was filled with family, a new restaurant and some homemade sausage-making (as you do). Monday, we met some friends at a nabe fave, Frankie's 457, which has a lovely outdoor area for enjoying the nice weather whilst stuffing yourself with carbs. In honor of Labor Day, I donned this Jack by BB Dakota white dress...
Read MoreSaturday, Dan and I grabbed our passports and headed out to beautiful New Jersey. I kid...although it's not the closest borough to Brooklyn. But once you're in the city, the PATH train is a breeze to Hoboken, where Dan's sis, bro-in-law and niece live. It was rainy and a little chilly out, so I shrouded myself in this Navajo-inspired warp I've had for years from Forever 21.
Read MoreWelcome to Friday Fails, where clothes go to die. Today's edition: A maxi malfunction, featuring this dress by Young Fabulous & Broke.
Read MoreOveralls were a big trend in the 90's. I had a rather bulky pair from the GAP that I'd rock across my Texas college campus, one shoulder unhooked of course because, that's chic right? My mother loathed them. She also called them "coveralls. Let's get real, they're just rarely a flattering look. Until I found this pair by FRAME denim.
Read MoreYou might recall from a previous post where I mentioned the greatness of the white blazer? Well, it's baaaack. And you've definitely not seen the last of it. My friend Monica is right—they just make ya feel fancy AF!
Read MoreWe had another weekend back in the BK and so that meant another Brooklyn bike tour! It was beautiful weather and we set out to explore some of the cool new things that've been popping up nearby. First stop was the behemoth known as Industry City.

That's right, I finally did the Rockaway. We had day off work on Friday and the weather was stellar, so my friend (and photo-taker) Lizzie and I headed out for a day trip to Rockaway Beach, a sweet little surf town haven a mere 13 miles from Brooklyn (which is about 45 mins in NYC drive time) but still, hella close.
Read MoreWelp, I went for it again—the scary and much-avoided skirt corner of my closet. Today was a cotton American Apparel (RIP) drawstring mini skirt I bought a few seasons ago...and have maybe worn once. Challenge: accepted.
Read MoreOne of my big closet issues is skirts: I love to buy them, I don't love to wear them. Honestly, they're just more difficult. Skirts require more thought than just throwing on a dress or jumper and running out. Proportions have to be correct, colors have to match, then there's shoes and....ahhhhh. That's how they end up on the floor, unworn. Not anymore. [Thanks, Closet Challenge!]
Read MoreThe hubs and I decided to take advantage of our first weekend back in Brookland in awhile and we went for a little bike "tour" from our hood to Red Hook. It was a hot but beautiful day followed by an incredibly sunset with Lady Libs in the background. And my ensemble was perfect for the adventure!
Read MoreI love a good crisp, white blazer. As my good friend and creative partner, Monica, says "They just make ya feel fancy!" Amen. They also really pull any outfit together.
Read MoreWho likes leaving vacation? Beach, please. Not us. But we still managed to get in a little time in the sand, sun and sea. Then it was a quick outdoor shower (a Fire Island thing and an amazing one at that) and a mad dash to the ferry, per usual. I threw on one of my fave Show Me Your Mumu Katy Dresses (I have several) and we were off.
Read MoreStill in the Isle O' Fire (which no one calls it, ever) and having a blast. This maxi is brought to you by Mara Hoffman and my local dry cleaner's tailor. I found this flowy, graphic color burst dress at a designer consignment store and loved it. It was soft, fit perfectly and had cool lace-up detail on the back.
