This week has been a doozy and I woke up feeling beat and in a funk today. My feet hurt [see: HEELS!] and my sinuses decided to turn on me, something that happens quite frequently. But the show must go on, right?
Read MoreNYC chilled out today and had a lovely breeze— btw, do you like my daily weather updates? Sorry, but the climate really dictates LIFE here. I can sense the autumnal shift happening in my bones (and on my Accuweather app) so in case this was our last day of #summerfall, I decided to dress accordingly.
Read MoreToday was another scorcher in the Baked Apple. Or maybe it's Broiled? Either way, 92º real feel and 1000% humidity doesn't usually say "pants" for an outfit choice, but hey—this is a challenge and I ain't lettin no heatwave tell me what to do. Except for telling me to sweat excessively on the subway platform. Here I give you yet another pair of pants I've been avoiding. I bought them from Zara three years ago and haven't worn them in two.
Read MoreI decided to put on another fear factor item today: these white J Brand wide-leg trouser jeans that I've been afraid of. I bought them to wear during my wedding weekend festivities and have been hiding from them since. I bravely put them on, one leg after another, and THANKTHELORD they fit. I really couldn't have dealt with the bad feelings associated with a no-button situation today. It also helps they have a smidge of stretch to them.
Read MoreI was *almost* warm in my McGuire jeans I got this past spring, and denim-blue and white striped sweatshirt I got 4 years ago when I first discovered the amazingness that is ASOS. It's such a simple top but I still really like it and consistently wear it each season. I threw on my blush colored Maje leather jacket, a very nice-looking-but-actually-super-cheapo necklace I bought when my bestie Jen worked for Glamour and they came out with a random line of jewelry for QVC.
Read MoreI took a super early flight Friday am to Denver to visit my sister, bro-in-law and favorite ginger baby niece. I really don't understand how anyone travels in clothing that doesn't resemble pajamas. Clearly, I'm not one of those people. So at 5:45am, I put on yet another onesie (yes that is 3 days in a row if anyone's counting).
Read MoreThursday was kind of a big deal for many reasons. First off, I went to a Rosh Hashanah (jewish new year) service at a really beautiful place inside of Prospect Park in BK. Then, later on I went to to see the Lone Bellow and The Head & The Heart in Central Park in Manhattan. Going to either of these places is a rare occurrence for me. But BOTH in one day? Basically the equivalent of a solar eclipse.
Read MoreToday is Rosh Hashanah, the celebration of the Jewish New Year. I tagged along with some friends to a nice service at the Picnic Room in Prospect Park. Super cool and very Brooklyn-y. Of course, going to services meant having to dress like a grown-up, something I rarely do, thanks to my chosen career path.
Read MoreI've always been a fan of the onesie, especially the 70s throwback styles. But not all onesies are alike: they can either look great or mega unflattering. I found this little silk black one two years ago at Aritzia. I liked that I could dress it up or down and wore it a lot that season. Then...not so much. I began to fear it, like much of my wardrobe, thanks to the extra lbs I had packed on...
Read MoreToday's weather was a humdinger. It was cool in the morning, then hot, then humid, then sunny and then gale force winds blew in crazy rain and it was cold again. So...that's fun to dress for! Luckily I'm working from home this week and only needed to go out for a few hours. Unluckily, that meant dressing like a presentable human being.
Read MoreI took a stroll to check out the sunset yesterday and was pleasantly surprised I made it there and back in these Sigerson Morrison shoes. In case you have noticed that name popping up a lot, I used to live a block away from their store...
Read MoreOne of the things that actually made it into my weekend bag was this Won Hundred high-waisted denim skirt. I bought it a year ago while shopping with my bestie at Bird Brooklyn, an awesome (albeit NOT cheap) store with very special, well-curated pieces. A great denim skirt is absolutely splurge-worthy as you can do so much with it. That is, assuming, it FITS.
Read MoreI wasn't thrilled with my weekend clothing options, however, during the day we cruised around Millerton and I found a supercute store called Base Camp where I found this perfect black shift dress and it was ON SALE. The shop owner, Mimi, and her adorable dog Dallas were a delight to hang with and, even though buying more items is not exactly shopping my closet, sometimes it's necessary.
Read MoreI thought this Free People top would be country-almost-fall apropos. I have to admit: sometimes when I'm working from home I accidentally on purpose watch the 4th hour of the Today show-- that's right, KLG & Hoda. I kind of live for them. One day they were talking about this top which they apparently both have. Although I'm totally over and even slightly mad at the off-the-shoulder/cold shoulder/bold shoulder trend that took over this spring/summer season, there was something different about this top.
Read MoreLast night's Sturgill Simpson show was bananas. Seriously, life-changing. Also life-hurting, as in I stayed out too late and was possibly over-served. {gulp} Today was a rough roll and one of those days where you just want to wear mushy clothes, huge sunglasses and a baseball cap, like a celebrity in rehab.
Read MoreTonight, we're seeing Sturgill Simpson at Radio City Music Hall, a show I've been waiting to see for 7 long months! In homage I decided to add a little western twist to my getup today. Also, upon hearing the first day of fall is in NINE days (eek!) I wanted to try to wear this little white dress before it's too late. So I found a way to make it more of a transitional piece by adding these suede western-y boots I found years ago at some random store in Soho.
Read MoreSince blush was deemed the "new neutral" of this past spring/summer, I declare mauve should be the "newer neutral" for fall. It's not a color I own much of, but after putting this jumper on today, it just makes so much dang sense. I also wore this for another reason: I bought it in the Florida Keys.
Read MoreThis outfit is meaningful for a few reasons. First, I bought it in New Orleans last year before our wedding and wore it to the most fun Friday lunch ever at Galatoire's (Friday lunch is a "thing" there). The second reason? IT FITS.
